The Michigan Lawsuit Abuse Watch organization holds an annual Wacky Warning Label Contest. Through this event people submit actual warning labels found on merchandise. The entries help support their premise that lawsuit abuse has pushed companies to take excessive and needless precautions with warning tags. First prize went to Bonnie Hay who submitted a phrase found on an iron. It read, “Never iron clothes while they are being worn.” Second place was offered to a Michigan resident who saw this warning on his thirteen-inch wheelbarrow tire: “Not for highway use.” Rounding out the top three came from a Texan who discovered an unusual warning on a bathroom heater. It declared, “This product is not to be used in bathrooms.” Such warnings can give us a new appreciation for God’s Word. It’s pages are not filled with ridiculous warnings and rules, but truth that leads to eternal life.
