Commentary on 1st Corinthians, Titus and Jude

Commentary on 1st Corinthians, Titus and Jude

Free Bible Study: 1st  Corinthians
Paul had been brought up in Jewish learning; but the plain preaching of a crucified Jesus, was more powerful than all the oratory and philosophy of the heathen world. This is the sum and substance of the gospel. Christ crucified is the foundation of all our hopes, the fountain of all our joys. And by his death we live.

Jim Denison is pastor of Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. While in college, Denison served as a summer missionary in East Malaysia. During one of their worship services, a teenage girl shared her faith in the small warehouse that was used for a church. She was baptized that day in their baptistry, which was a bathtub, and glowed with the love of Christ. While all of this was going on, Denison noticed some worn-out luggage leaning against the wall. He asked a church member for an explanation of the suitcase. He pointed to the girl who had been baptized and said, “Her father said that if she was baptized as a Christian she could never go home again. So she brought her luggage.” What a challenge for greater commitment.
