And Israel set liers in wait round about Gibeah.
Previously, they were so confident of the greatness of their military strength that they thought it was unnecessary to formulate a plan that involved maneuvers and trickery, or to lay any ambush, or form a strategy. They were sure they could conquer their brother, Benjamin, simply by their overwhelming numbers; but now they saw it was going to be mandatory to use some strategy, as if they faced an enemy that had been superior in number.
