2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? Paul’s characteristic expression, “Certainly not” (God forbid in the KJV), shows how appalled he is at the mere suggestion of continuing in sin once we have experienced the grace of God. We who died to sin refers to a definite occasion in our past, namely, when through faith in Christ we passed from death unto life.
