Today’s Lesson: Failure of Asher

After the Israelites settled in the land of Canaan, Sidon was near the territory of Zebulun [1](Gen. 49:13 ) and Asher [2](Jos. 19:28 ). But the tribe of Asher failed to drive out the inhabitants of Sidon. This indicates something about the strength of that city. Sidon, however, frequently was destroyed by foreign invaders during the next several centuries.
