Paul's Epistle to the Romans

Paul's Epistle to the Romans

Begin today to study the Bible because what God says is important!

A good place to start is a study of Paul’s epistle to the Romans.  One of the important messages of Romans is that salvation is by faith alone; it doesn’t include being good or doing good, church membership, etc.

Justification is illustrated in the Old Testament.
Romans 4:1-25

Paul has just firmly established that the righteousness of God is apart from the law (3:21) and that man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law (3:28). He is aware, however, that the Jew will offer the case of Abraham as rebuttal to this teaching. Paul’s own people were still engrossed with the idea that being Jewish ought to give them certain privileges in the eyes of God. Thus, in this chapter, Paul analyzes the principle by which God saved Abraham. The father of Israel is an illustration of God’s message of salvation in the Old Testament.

Harmony of the Gospels is a study of the life of Jesus presented in chronological order with emphasis on how the four Gospels fit together to tell His story.

Rich Young Ruler   Matthew 19:16-30, Mark 10:17-31, Luke 18:18-30

This young man approaches the Lord Jesus.  He addresses Him as Good Master in an attempt to flatter Him. Luke identifies him as a ruler, so he was no doubt wealthy and well educated, a member of the Sanhedrin or a synagogue ruler.  He is willing to admit that Jesus is good, and probably the enemies of Jesus would not have gone that far. He wanted to know what to do to earn eternal life and that is the question he asked our Lord.

If you have never studied 1st Corinthians or perhaps it was a long time ago; this study is for you.  It is a wonderful book and it contains many verses that are familiar to most people. It is another love letter from God.

Lesson 2.8: Servants of Christ and Their Work Scripture: 1 Corinthians 4.1-4

Many Corinthian believers were rejecting both Paul’s teaching and his authority. Paul reasserted his authority over them, all the while emphasizing his role as “servant” and “steward” of the mysteries of God—the truths of the gospel. A “steward” (Gk. oikonomos) is the servant who is entrusted with the administration of his master’s business or property. Life, itself is a stewardship, so be faithful (vv. 1–5). We judge ourselves, and others judge us; but the Final Judge is the Lord. Live to please Him alone.

Lesson #13: Justification is by Faith Alone   Romans 3:21–31

23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Sin has been defined as any thought, word, or deed that “misses the mark” and “falls short of God’s standard of holiness and perfection. Sin is not only doing what is wrong; it is also the failure to do what one knows to be right.

First Temple Visit with Acknowledgements by Simeon and Anna—(Leviticus 12) Luke 2:21-38

When we visualize a baby, the picture we get is one of innocence, virtue and goodness, but that is not the picture that God paints of us in His word. He shows a picture of uncleanness and sin, just the opposite of what the world says. Do you know what happened? The mother brought a sinner into the world and that’s all she could do, because she is a sinner and daddy is too.

 Jesus Blesses Children; Raises Objections

(Ps. 131:12) Matthew 19:13-15, Mark 10:13-16, Luke 18:15-17

The disciples failed to see the potential in these children that their Master did. He not only knew what men were, but by the grace of God He knew what they could be, and He also knew what children would become. Children want to come to Jesus, but too often adults get in the way, as they did here. The best parents make it easy for their children to come to Christ, and to love Him, and receive His blessing.

Paul's Epistle to the Romans

A good place to start is a study of Paul’s epistle to the Romans.  Lesson #12 was given in nursing homes.

Lesson #12: The Need of the Whole World.
Romans 3:9–20

Paul has shown that the heathen are lost, because even though they had the witness of both nature and conscience, they suppressed the truth God gave to them. He has shown also that the moral man is lost, because even though he put on an outward show of piousness in order to judge the heathen, inwardly he was guilty of the same sins.
